Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to develop materials and train university teachers on introductory modules covering Climate Resilience, Green Transition, and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Universities are increasingly expected to integrate these cross-cutting topics across disciplines. This assignment specifically aims to equip university lecturers, particularly those teaching social work and teacher education, with foundational knowledge and practical understanding of these themes. The goal is to enable them to deliver accessible and relevant content to students who may not have a background in environmental or climate sciences. The consultant will develop a training program that equips lecturers to introduce basic concepts of climate resilience, green transition, and DRR into their teaching practices, ensuring the content is practical, applicable, and tailored to the local and regional context.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for designing a comprehensive set of introductory training modules suitable for non-specialist lecturers, practice placement teachers, and students. These materials must present concepts in a simple, practical, and accessible manner, tailored to social sciences and education contexts, and reflect the local and regional context. Key topics to be covered include an introduction to climate change and climate resilience (key concepts, practical actions, everyday implications), green transition (sustainable practices, roles and responsibilities), disaster risk reduction (basic concepts, roles of teachers and social workers), and application in professional contexts (integration into teaching practice and community engagement approaches). The consultant will also develop a complete training package, including slide presentations, a facilitator guide, and handouts. Furthermore, the consultant will deliver a 5-session, interactive, and participatory training program over one month, utilizing adult learning principles and encouraging practical application. Finally, the consultant will provide guidance for participants on integrating the learned concepts into their curricula and adapting materials for different student groups, and will submit a brief final report summarizing activities, participant feedback, and recommendations.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change, green transition, disaster risk reduction, or education. Experience working with universities or teacher training institutions is highly desirable. Experience in Georgia or the Caucasus region is an asset.
