Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide essential technical and operational support at the field level for water supply and WASH in institutions interventions within Zambezia Province. The consultant will play a crucial role in strengthening programme delivery by ensuring the quality of infrastructure components, supporting partners, enhancing monitoring systems, and meticulously documenting project results. This role is vital for improving child health, school attendance, and overall resilience through better WASH services in public institutions. The consultant will align all activities with UNICEF's programme priorities and established standards for WASH service delivery, contributing directly to the realization of children's rights to health and education.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance and field-level implementation support for water supply and WASH in institutions projects in Zambezia Province. Ensure quality assurance of infrastructure components, including design review and supervision of construction works for water supply systems and sanitation facilities in schools and health centers. Support partners in the implementation of WASH activities, including capacity building and technical guidance. Develop and strengthen monitoring systems to track progress, identify challenges, and ensure timely and effective project delivery. Document project results, lessons learned, and best practices for reporting and knowledge sharing. Coordinate with government counterparts, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and alignment of WASH interventions. Monitor the performance of solar water supply systems and provide recommendations for optimization. Contribute to the development of project proposals and work plans related to WASH in institutions. Ensure compliance with UNICEF's policies, procedures, and standards in all aspects of work. Prepare regular progress reports on activities, achievements, and challenges.
Work Experience
Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in WASH programmes, with at least 3 years specifically in the construction or supervision of borehole drilling, water supply, and institutional sanitation construction works. Proven experience in managing water supply and WASH in institutions projects.
