Job Purpose
The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of nutrition programs in Malawi, with a specific focus on maternal, infant, young child, and adolescent nutrition (MIYCAN) services. This includes the management of wasting and the strengthening of monitoring systems to improve nutritional outcomes for vulnerable populations. Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance and support to government counterparts and partners in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition interventions, particularly focusing on MIYCAN services and wasting management. Strengthen nutrition monitoring systems to ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting for evidence-based decision-making and program adjustments. Collaborate with national and local stakeholders, including civil society organizations and development partners, to promote systems strengthening and the adoption of scalable, evidence-based nutrition solutions. Support the efficient utilization of resources allocated for nutrition programs to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that positively impact the survival, growth, and well-being of children and women. Contribute to the development of nutrition strategies, policies, and guidelines in line with UNICEF's global and national priorities. Participate in field visits to assess program progress, identify challenges, and provide on-site support to implementing partners. Prepare regular reports on program activities, results, and challenges for UNICEF management and stakeholders.
Work Experience
At least two years of professional experience in nutrition program planning, implementation, and monitoring, preferably in a developing country context. Experience with maternal, infant, young child, and adolescent nutrition (MIYCAN) and wasting management is desirable.
