Job Purpose
The Education Officer, reporting to the Education Specialist, provides professional technical, operational, and administrative support for education programming. This role focuses on coordinating and supporting the Education Sector Working Group (ESWG). The position involves contributing to programme development and planning, managing and delivering programme results, and offering technical and operational assistance for programme implementation. Key functions also include building networks and partnerships, fostering innovation, managing knowledge, and enhancing capacity within the education sector. The ultimate goal is to contribute to UNICEF's mission of promoting and protecting the rights of every child, particularly those most disadvantaged, through effective education initiatives.
Responsibilities
The Education Officer will support the development and planning of education programmes, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and the equity agenda. This includes contributing to the formulation of programme objectives, strategies, and activities. The role involves managing and monitoring the delivery of results for education programmes, tracking progress against targets, and ensuring timely and efficient implementation. Technical and operational support will be provided to partners and stakeholders involved in programme implementation, including capacity building and guidance. A significant aspect of the role is networking and partnership building with government counterparts, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and leverage resources for education. The officer will also contribute to innovation in education programming, knowledge management by documenting lessons learned and best practices, and capacity building of partners to enhance their effectiveness in delivering education services. This includes supporting the coordination and functioning of the Education Sector Working Group (ESWG).
Work Experience
One year of relevant work experience in education programme management, sector coordination, programme planning, monitoring and evaluation, results-based management, partnership development, humanitarian coordination, data analysis, knowledge management, and capacity building is required.
