Job Purpose
The Chief Advocacy and Communications (P-5) is responsible for developing, managing, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive advocacy and communications strategy. This includes creating and disseminating associated products and activities for public audiences, integrated within the office's programmatic work, risk management, and overall results. The role supports the strategic objective of promoting awareness, understanding, support, and respect for children's and women's rights, the equity focus, and UNICEF's mission, priorities, and programmes at both the country office and global levels, as well as contributing to the UN Country Team's efforts.
Responsibilities
Develop, manage, implement, and monitor an advocacy and communications strategy, including engagement with digital and social media. Ensure alignment of communication efforts with advocacy and fundraising objectives to achieve measurable results. Oversee monitoring and evaluation of communication activities, identifying best practices and opportunities for scaling up. Cultivate and maintain networking and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders. Provide excellent people management and leadership to the communications team. Integrate communication strategies with programmatic work, risk management, and expanded scope to enhance overall office performance. Promote awareness, understanding, support, and respect for children's and women's rights, the equity focus, and UNICEF's mission, priorities, and programmes. Contribute to the UN Country Team's communication and advocacy efforts. Ensure communication products and activities are aligned with UNICEF's global and country-specific objectives.
Work Experience
A minimum of eight years of professional experience in advocacy and communications, with a proven track record in developing and implementing communication strategies. Experience in a humanitarian or development context is highly desirable. Experience in managing teams and working with diverse stakeholders is essential.
