Job Purpose
The Nutrition Officer will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for nutrition programs/projects. This involves applying theoretical and technical skills in collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical program information. The role requires learning organizational rules, regulations, and procedures to support the development and formulation of Nutrition programs within the Sokoto Field Office. The position contributes to programme development and planning, programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results, providing technical and operational support to programme implementation, fostering networking and partnership building, and driving innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building.
Responsibilities
Support programme development and planning by contributing to the formulation of nutrition programme objectives and strategies. Manage, monitor, and ensure the delivery of results for nutrition programmes, tracking progress against set targets and timelines. Provide technical and operational support to ensure effective implementation of nutrition programme activities at the field level. Foster networking and partnership building with government counterparts, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance programme collaboration and impact. Drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building by identifying best practices, sharing lessons learned, and supporting the development of staff and partner capacities in nutrition programming. Ensure timely and accurate reporting on programme activities and results. Contribute to resource mobilization efforts for nutrition programmes. Participate in relevant inter-agency coordination meetings and working groups. Ensure compliance with UNICEF rules, regulations, and procedures in all aspects of programme management.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Nutrition, Public Health, Maternal Child Health, Programme Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, Capacity Building, Humanitarian Response, or related fields. Experience working in complex environments managing nutrition projects. Emergency response experience is essential.
