Job Purpose

The Senior Adviser WASH (Global Acceleration Programme and Global Initiatives) aims to influence global systems and partnerships to deliver significant WASH results for children worldwide. This role involves providing strategic leadership in establishing a Global WASH Acceleration Programme and shaping UNICEF’s engagement with public and private sector partners. The incumbent ensures coherence between programmatic priorities, strategies, and partnerships to maximize impact. Key functions include influencing global WASH agendas by leveraging UNICEF’s leadership and experience, leading collaboration with diverse stakeholders like international financial institutions, and strengthening country-level programming through scalable and innovative solutions. The Senior Adviser also represents UNICEF in global fora, contributing to policy discussions and global priorities, and serves as a deputy to the Director WASH, contributing to the overall strategic direction of the WASH function.

Key areas of responsibility encompass global partnerships and acceleration programmes for WASH, providing advisory services and technical support across global, regional, and country levels, and leading advocacy, networking, and partnership building to influence global WASH agendas. The position is crucial in positioning UNICEF as a leader in shaping global WASH strategies and delivering sustainable solutions for children.
