Job Purpose
The Partnerships Manager, reporting directly to the Representative, serves as a crucial interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence. This role aims to deepen collaboration with key stakeholders, ensuring greater visibility for UNICEF and enhancing its influence in support of its mission. The position may also act as a focal point and resource for colleagues on specific thematic areas critical for partnership development. The Partnerships Manager is expected to be an authoritative expert in partnership development, contributing to policy direction and design, and developing innovative approaches to complex challenges.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Manager is responsible for supporting senior advisers and management in establishing annual work plans, setting priorities, and defining performance measurements. This includes monitoring work progress for the managed unit to ensure timely and efficient achievement of results according to performance standards. The role involves establishing clear individual performance objectives, goals, and timelines for team members, providing guidance to ensure efficient and responsible task execution. The manager leads the work plan for their assigned area, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of results aligned with UNICEF’s partnership strategy. Key duties include seeking and promoting new partnerships and resource mobilization opportunities, brokering agreements, and screening inquiries from potential collaborators. The role requires scanning the external environment for partnership opportunities and risks, providing strategic, logistical, and programmatic support for corporate engagement, and developing deep knowledge of current and prospective partners. Expanding UNICEF’s network with governments, development institutions, foundations, and civil society is crucial. The manager develops and implements annual partnership engagement and resource mobilization plans, acts as a focal point for outreach and policy influence, and contributes to the development of new partnership practices and approaches.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in partnership development, resource mobilization, or related fields, with at least two years at the international level. Experience in the MENA region is an asset.
