Job Purpose
As the Chief of Health in Aden, Yemen, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management and leadership of all health programs and projects. This includes strategic planning, formulation, and the effective delivery of results across various health areas such as gender, maternal, neonatal, child survival, and emergency preparedness. You will lead and manage the health team, developing action plans to achieve concrete and sustainable results aligned with results-based management approaches, UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, performance standards, and accountability frameworks, in close consultation with the Regional Health Adviser.
Responsibilities
The Chief of Health will provide managerial leadership, driving the health agenda in Yemen. Key responsibilities include programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and country needs. You will oversee programme management, monitoring, and quality control of results to ensure effective implementation and impact. Providing advisory services and technical support to national counterparts and partners will be crucial. Furthermore, you will engage in advocacy, networking, and partnership building to strengthen the health sector. Finally, you will foster innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the health team and among partners to enhance sustainable health outcomes for children and women.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of professional experience at the international level in public health planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness is required. Experience working in a developing country or within a UN system agency is considered an asset.
