Job Purpose
The Budget and Finance Associate provides essential operational support for budget and financial management within the unit, working closely with Programme teams. This role is crucial for monitoring budget allocations, salary funding, and financial transactions, including critical year-end closure activities. The associate assists in reviewing financial reports to facilitate informed decision-making and offers day-to-day guidance to Programme teams, ensuring effective management of budget allocations and financial processes. By supporting payroll funding, budget transfers, and the timely allocation and transfer of funds, the position contributes significantly to the efficient management of financial resources. Ultimately, this role ensures that financial operations robustly support programme implementation and achieve desired results for children.
Responsibilities
The Budget and Finance Associate is responsible for providing comprehensive operational support in budget and financial management across the unit, collaborating closely with Programme teams. Key duties include monitoring budget allocations, salary funding, and all financial transactions, encompassing crucial year-end closure activities. The associate will assist in the review of financial reports, offering insights to support informed decision-making. This role involves providing day-to-day operational guidance to Programme teams, interpreting financial reports, and ensuring the effective management of budget allocations and financial processes. The incumbent will support payroll funding processes, manage budget transfers, and facilitate the timely allocation and transfer of funds. Collaboration with the Central Support Centre (CSC) in New York and other locations is essential to streamline processes and resolve operational bottlenecks. Furthermore, the associate will support the implementation of HACT processes, including delivering trainings for Programme Assistants and processing related transactions. Coordinating with Programme teams to identify procurement needs and ensuring that associated budget requirements are met is also a critical responsibility, contributing to efficient programme implementation.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in finance, budget management, or administrative operations is required. This must include experience in budget monitoring, financial reporting, payroll and cost recovery processes, and the use of financial systems (ERP).
