Job Purpose
The Social & Behavior Change Officer, under the general guidance of the Chief Field Office, is responsible for the design, management, monitoring, and evaluation of evidence-based, inclusive, and innovative Social and Behavior Change (SBC) strategies. These strategies are crucial for supporting the country programme's objectives related to child rights and well-being. The role involves developing and implementing communication for development initiatives, public advocacy, and social development programmes. The officer will contribute to UNICEF's mandate of supporting the realization of rights for all children, especially the most disadvantaged, by fostering positive social and behavioral changes within communities.
Responsibilities
Contribute to/responsible for the design, management, monitoring and evaluation of evidence-based, inclusive and innovative SBC strategies in support of the country programme. Develop and implement SBC strategies that address key social and behavioral determinants of child well-being and rights. Manage and monitor the implementation of SBC activities, ensuring alignment with country programme goals and UNICEF's global strategies. Evaluate the effectiveness of SBC interventions and recommend adjustments for continuous improvement. Provide technical support and guidance to government counterparts, partners, and communities on SBC approaches. Foster partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and other UN agencies, to ensure effective collaboration and synergy in SBC efforts. Advocate for the rights of children and promote positive social norms and behaviors through various communication channels. Ensure that SBC strategies are gender-sensitive, inclusive, and responsive to the specific needs of vulnerable groups. Prepare regular reports on SBC activities, progress, and challenges for internal and external stakeholders. Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in social and behavior change communication and related fields.
Work Experience
Two years of relevant work experience in social development programme planning, communication for development, social and behaviour change, public advocacy, or another related area is required.
