Job Purpose
The Facilities Services Specialist will provide strategic and technical support in premises management to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs through space optimization, common premises initiatives, office renovations, and construction projects. The position contributes to UNICEF's ongoing organizational transformation, the Future-Focused Initiative (FFI), by adapting administrative support functions related to premises management to meet evolving global business needs and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Management (Common Services) - P5, the Facilities Services Specialist is responsible for the comprehensive management of office space, building maintenance, and renovations at 3 UN Plaza (UNICEF House). This includes conducting periodic analyses of space requirements to align with established office standards and operational needs. The specialist will oversee and coordinate the work of service providers, contractors, engineers, and architects to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects. Key responsibilities involve managing facilities management operations, including space planning, maintenance schedules, and overseeing renovation and construction activities. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure that facilities meet safety, accessibility, and sustainability standards, supporting a productive work environment for all staff.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in facilities management, property management, or a related field is required. Experience in managing office space, building maintenance, renovations, and construction projects is essential. Experience working in an international organization or UN system is an asset.
