Job Purpose
The Young Internship Programme in Niger aims to support the employability of young Nigerien graduates by providing structured practical experience. This program will identify, train, and mentor young talents in various intervention areas, while also addressing the operational needs of UNICEF Niger sections. Recent recruitment experiences have highlighted the need for UNICEF Niger to develop a pool of young professionals familiar with the organization's values, procedures, and standards. Through this program, interns will gain valuable practical experience over six months, benefiting from structured supervision, exposure to the workings of an international organization, and the development of professional skills. It also allows UNICEF Niger to strengthen its commitment to youth inclusion, knowledge transfer, and national human capital development.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Health & Nutrition Officer, the Health and Nutrition Intern will contribute to the implementation of the 2026 Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) in the health/nutrition sector for the Agadez region. The intern will provide technical support to health and nutrition activities within the framework of the 2026 CPAP implementation. This includes assisting in the planning, execution, and monitoring of health and nutrition programs, contributing to data collection and analysis for program monitoring and reporting, supporting the organization of meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to health and nutrition initiatives, and assisting in the preparation of program-related documents, such as reports, briefs, and presentations. The intern will also collaborate with other UNICEF sections and partners to ensure integrated program delivery and support field activities as required.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required, but an interest in gaining practical experience in a humanitarian or development organization is essential. Familiarity with the UN system or UNICEF's work is an asset.
