In Niger, a country with a predominantly young population, UNICEF is implementing the Young Internship Programme to support the employability of young Nigeriens by providing structured professional experiences.
Job Purpose
The internship aims to identify, train, and support young talents in various intervention areas, while meeting the operational needs of sections. This program will allow interns to gain practical and enriching experience over 6 months, benefiting from structured supervision, exposure to the functioning of an international organization, and the development of professional skills. It also allows UNICEF Niger to strengthen its commitment to youth inclusion, knowledge transfer, and national human capital development, contributing to the rapid, effective, and appropriate response to the needs of children and families affected by humanitarian crises.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief Field Operations and Emergency, the intern will contribute to the preparation, coordination, and implementation of UNICEF's emergency interventions. This includes supporting the strengthening of emergency response mechanisms, assisting in the development of emergency preparedness plans, and participating in field assessments to identify needs and vulnerabilities of affected populations. The intern will also support the monitoring and evaluation of emergency activities, ensuring that interventions are aligned with UNICEF's mandate and international humanitarian standards. Additionally, the intern may be involved in drafting situation reports, coordinating with partners, and contributing to advocacy efforts for children's rights in emergency contexts. This role provides hands-on experience in managing and responding to humanitarian crises, with a focus on child protection and well-being.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is required, as this is an internship designed to provide foundational experience in emergency response and humanitarian affairs within an international organization.
