The Global Programme Division (GPD) provides strategic leadership and technical expertise, with Centres of Excellence (CoEs) like the Amman CoE delivering demand-driven assistance to country and regional offices. This role supports immunization priorities by strengthening supply chain systems.
Job Purpose
The Health Specialist will contribute to strengthening immunization supply chains and infrastructure by supporting countries in improving cold chain management, health facility solar electrification, and healthcare waste management. The role aims to enhance the availability and quality of vaccines at the last mile, reduce wastage, and improve supply chain efficiency. By providing technical assistance, supporting data-driven decision-making, and building country capacity, the specialist will help ensure equitable access to immunization services, particularly in fragile and underserved settings. This position supports UNICEF’s efforts to strengthen health systems, improve programme resilience, and deliver sustainable results in line with global health strategies and the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring life-saving vaccines reach children everywhere.
Responsibilities
Contribute to strengthening immunization supply chains and infrastructure by supporting countries to improve cold chain management, health facility solar electrification, and healthcare waste management. Enhance the availability and quality of vaccines at the last mile, reduce wastage, and improve supply chain efficiency. Provide technical assistance, support data-driven decision-making, and build country capacity to ensure equitable access to immunization services, particularly in fragile and underserved settings. Support UNICEF’s efforts to strengthen health systems, improve programme resilience, and deliver sustainable results in line with global health strategies and the Sustainable Development Goals. Support the design and implementation of innovative solutions, build country capacity, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making. Play a role in strengthening health systems and advancing equitable access to immunization, while supporting emergency preparedness and response efforts. Focus on key areas including Cold Chain Equipment Management, Health Facility Solar Electrification and Health Care Waste Management, Technical Assistance to Country Offices, and Data Analysis and Programme Monitoring. Work closely with global and country teams to achieve these objectives.
Work Experience
At least 8 years of experience in logistics, cold chain management, or supply chain, with at least 4 years in developing countries. Knowledge of the latest developments in temperature studies, cold chain equipment management, and EVM 2.0 is required. Experience in HFSE and HCWM assessments and implementation is also required.
