Job Purpose
The Supply Associate performs highly skilled procurement and supply work to support the Ebola emergency response in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This role involves managing complex procurement and contracting cases, client requests, and leading end-to-end procurement processes with a high degree of operational independence. The incumbent will contribute to the design and development of improved supply services and delivery mechanisms, potentially supervising lower-level staff. The position is crucial for ensuring the timely and efficient provision of necessary supplies and services to combat the ongoing Ebola outbreak, requiring adaptability and strategic thinking in a challenging operational environment.
Responsibilities
The Supply Associate is responsible for planning procurement activities, ensuring alignment with emergency response needs. This includes managing complex procurement and contracting cases, adhering to UNICEF's rules, procedures, and best practices. The role involves evaluating difficult situations and adapting procedures as necessary to ensure effective and efficient acquisition of goods and services. The incumbent will also oversee procurement services and supply financing where applicable, ensuring financial accountability. A key aspect is contributing to localization efforts and emergency preparedness, strengthening local capacity and supply chains. Furthermore, the Supply Associate will manage information and data related to procurement and supply chain operations, ensuring accurate reporting and contributing to the continuous improvement of supply services and delivery mechanisms. The position may involve supervising lower-level GS staff, providing guidance and oversight.
Work Experience
A minimum of six (6) years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management, procurement, or a commercial context is required.
