Job Purpose
The Social & Behavior Change Officer (SBC-Nutrition) will provide technical and operational support for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of evidence-based Social and Behavior Change (SBC) strategies. The goal is to improve nutritional practices and increase the demand for and utilization of essential nutrition services. This role will actively contribute to initiatives aimed at improving infant and young child feeding practices, specifically through the implementation of the First Foods Africa (FFA) initiative in Burkina Faso. The focus will be on promoting the consumption of local, safe, nutritious, and affordable complementary foods for children aged 6-23 months through social marketing, SBC communication, and community engagement activities.
Responsibilities
Key functions and responsibilities include: - Developing programs and implementing SBC approaches for nutrition, including in emergency situations. - Supporting the strengthening of national and community-level systems. - Conducting monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and knowledge management activities. - Contributing to the planning and implementation of SBC strategies for nutrition, focusing on improving infant and young child feeding practices. - Engaging in social marketing, communication for social and behavior change, and community engagement activities to promote appropriate complementary foods. - Supporting the First Foods Africa (FFA) initiative in Burkina Faso. - Ensuring that interventions are evidence-based and contribute to improved nutritional outcomes. - Collaborating with national and local partners to ensure effective program delivery and sustainability. - Documenting lessons learned and best practices for knowledge sharing and future programming.
Work Experience
At least one year of professional experience in planning and implementing social development programs, community program facilitation, communication for development or social and behavior change, public advocacy, or a related field.
