Job Purpose
This role aims to lead and strengthen coordinated education responses in humanitarian settings, driving a strategic, coherent, and accountable approach within the Cluster. The coordinator ensures partners work effectively to meet affected populations' needs by building strong relationships, fostering inter-sectoral collaboration, and guiding collective action. The objective is to deliver timely, inclusive, and impactful education interventions that respond to emergencies efficiently. As Education Manager Cluster Coordinator, you will provide strategic leadership and representation for a timely, coherent, and effective response in complex humanitarian settings. You will bring diverse stakeholders together, guiding them toward shared, evidence-based goals, overseeing coordination mechanisms, needs assessments, and response planning. Through strong partnerships, resource mobilization, and performance monitoring, you will drive an inclusive and accountable response, strengthening national and local capacities and ensuring education interventions align with humanitarian standards and meet evolving needs.
Responsibilities
The Education Manager Cluster Coordinator will provide strategic leadership and representation to ensure a timely, coherent, and effective education response in complex humanitarian settings, bringing together diverse stakeholders and guiding collective action. This includes overseeing comprehensive needs assessments and in-depth analysis to identify gaps, priorities, and vulnerabilities, ensuring evidence-based planning for education interventions. The role involves developing and implementing strategic response plans that are aligned with humanitarian standards and effectively address the evolving educational needs of affected populations. Furthermore, the coordinator will lead efforts in mobilizing resources and advocating for sustained funding and support for education programs, building strong partnerships with donors and stakeholders. They are responsible for driving the effective implementation of education interventions, monitoring performance and progress against established goals to ensure timely and impactful delivery. Regular operational reviews and evaluations will be conducted to assess the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of education programs, identifying lessons learned and best practices. A key aspect is ensuring that education responses are inclusive and accountable to affected populations, incorporating their feedback and participation in program design and delivery. Finally, the role focuses on strengthening national and local capacities for education in emergencies, enhancing resilience and preparedness for future crises.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of professional experience, preferably at the international level, in education programme planning, coordination, management, and/or research is required. Relevant experience in education programme management within a UN system agency is an asset. A minimum of two years of experience in Education Cluster/Sector/Working Group coordination is desirable. Experience in a senior management role or cluster coordination in complex emergency response or protracted crisis, including first phase, is strongly desirable.
