Job Purpose
The Deputy Representative, Operations (P-4) will serve as a Strategic Business Partner and Deputy to the Head of Office, leading for results and driving change. This role involves providing risk-informed, solution-focused analysis, advice, and services to support programme and management decisions for delivering results for children in all operational contexts. The incumbent will act as Officer in Charge in the Head of Office's absence, ensuring continuity and effective leadership. This position is crucial for guiding the country office's operational strategies, ensuring efficiency, value for money, and adherence to organizational policies and risk management frameworks, ultimately contributing to the well-being and development of children in Burundi.
Responsibilities
The Deputy Representative, Operations will lead by example, supporting the Head of Office in managing the country office and acting as Officer in Charge when needed. Responsibilities include coordinating support services across budget, financial management, facilities management, administration, supply chain, ICT, and safety/security, ensuring a unified operational vision. As a member of the Country and Senior Management Teams, the incumbent will represent organizational risk and governance perspectives, promoting results-based management. Key contributions will be made to CPD, CPMP, and AMP processes, providing guidance and developing tools. The role involves leveraging technology for results, promoting ICT management, information security, and controls. Support will be provided for audit reviews, including preparation and implementation of recommendations. Supply and logistics strategies will be guided to meet programmatic needs with a focus on Value for Money (VfM). The incumbent will oversee business transactions processed by GSSC, focusing on efficiency, performance, risk management, and fraud prevention. Active support for resource mobilization and partnership efforts, including engagement with government counterparts, is expected. Finally, the role involves leading on facility management with a focus on inclusivity, sustainability, and common premises, and supporting PSFR operations.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in operations management, programme support, financial management, supply chain, or a related field, preferably in a developing country context. Experience in leading teams and managing complex operations is essential.
