Job Purpose
The Supply and Logistics Officer will provide essential technical and operational support for the field office's supply chain operations, specifically in response to the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and effective delivery of critical supplies, including Infection Prevention and Control commodities, to affected communities. The officer will manage all aspects of the supply chain, from planning and procurement to distribution and fleet management, working closely with program teams and local counterparts to meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children in a challenging and insecure environment.
Responsibilities
The Supply and Logistics Officer is responsible for the comprehensive management of supply chain operations within the field office, supporting the Ebola emergency response. This includes detailed planning, procurement processes, contract management, customs clearance, efficient warehousing, accurate inventory and stock management, and in-country transportation. The role also encompasses fleet management and the logistical coordination of supply distribution. A key focus will be on monitoring the safe storage, handling, and last-mile delivery of all supplies, with particular attention to time-critical Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) commodities. The officer will collaborate closely with programme teams to align supply interventions with programmatic requirements and contribute to achieving UNICEF's results for children. Furthermore, the position involves providing operational and advisory support to government counterparts, national systems, and implementing partners on best practices in supply chain and logistics management, ensuring effective and equitable response efforts in a complex operational context.
Work Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience at national and international levels in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration, or other directly related technical fields is required. Understanding of development and humanitarian work is essential.
Skills
