Job Purpose
UNICEF seeks to establish a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) with qualified consultants to provide on-demand technical support for Nutrition in Emergency response and early recovery in Viet Nam. This role is crucial due to the country's vulnerability to climate change and frequent natural disasters that disproportionately affect children's nutrition. The consultant will enhance UNICEF's capacity for rapid deployment, ensuring timely, consistent, and high-quality life-saving nutrition support, as well as contributing to recovery, preparedness, and resilience measures. This position is vital for meeting UNICEF's Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action (CCCs) and addressing the specific nutritional vulnerabilities exacerbated by disasters.
Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of UNICEF and in close coordination with relevant government counterparts and partners, the consultant(s) will provide on-demand technical support for Nutrition responses in disaster-affected provinces. Key tasks include providing technical support for early actions, planning, and needs assessment by reviewing data, assessing the situation of children and communities, developing emergency response plans, and recommending proactive measures. The consultant will participate in Nutrition sector and multisectoral coordination meetings as required. They will also support the planning and implementation of rapid assessment missions, including field data collection, analysis, and reporting, to inform humanitarian response planning and identify service delivery gaps. Furthermore, the consultant will coordinate with partners, supply division, and service providers to ensure timely delivery of supplies and services, establish accountability and feedback mechanisms, and support recovery efforts.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in nutrition, public health, or humanitarian response, with at least 2 years in emergency settings. Experience in Viet Nam or similar disaster-prone contexts is an asset.
