Job Purpose

The Education Specialist will support the development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of UNICEF's education programmes in Iraq, aligning with the Iraq Country Programme Document 2025–2029. The role focuses on improving learning outcomes and ensuring equitable and inclusive education, particularly for marginalized children. A key aspect will be strengthening institutional capacity for climate education, addressing the growing risks and impacts of climate change in Iraq. This position contributes to UNICEF's fundamental mission of promoting children's rights and equitable development within the country.

Responsibilities

The Education Specialist will provide technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes, focusing on Output 1: Education System Strengthening. Key accountabilities include supporting programme development and planning, managing and monitoring programme implementation to ensure timely delivery of results, and providing technical and operational support to field activities. The role involves networking and building partnerships with government entities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to advance education goals. Additionally, the specialist will contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector, with a specific emphasis on integrating climate education initiatives. This includes monitoring progress, evaluating impact, and reporting on the effectiveness of education programmes and projects.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of professional experience is required in areas such as programme management, education sector planning, climate education, donor management, interagency coordination, and/or research in education.
