Job Purpose
The consultancy aims to develop illustrated playful-pedagogical tools to enhance emotional understanding, mitigate the impact of family separation, and promote the well-being and participation of children and adolescents. These tools will be used to work with children and adolescents on the application of special protection measures, including entry into and exit from Protection Centers. The objective is to go beyond mere information provision by integrating psychosocial elements that lessen the impact of family separation. Through visual elements, children and adolescents will be enabled to interpret, process, and express their emotions in an accessible and sensitive manner, fostering an environment of trust, reflection, and support. This will facilitate the accompaniment provided by technical teams and uphold children's right to be informed about decisions affecting their lives, contributing to their overall well-being and the strengthening of their rights restoration process.
Responsibilities
Develop illustrated playful-pedagogical tools designed to address the emotional impact of protection measures on children and adolescents. These tools should facilitate the understanding and processing of experiences related to entering and exiting Protection Centers. Integrate psychosocial elements into the tools to mitigate the negative effects of family separation and promote emotional well-being. Ensure the tools are visually engaging and accessible, allowing children and adolescents to interpret, process, and express their emotions safely and effectively. Create narratives that are hopeful and relatable, fostering trust and encouraging reflection. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure the tools align with their needs and can be effectively integrated into their support processes. Conduct consultations or validation processes with children, adolescents, and families to review and adjust the materials, ensuring cultural relevance and age-appropriateness. Adhere to the principles of comprehensive child protection and the rights-based approach throughout the development process. Ensure the final deliverables meet the standards outlined in the Terms of Reference, contributing to the overall goal of child rights restoration and well-being.
Work Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical consultancies or projects related to the Nicaraguan public system, preferably in programs concerning child care and protection, work with adolescents, mental health, or psychosocial support. Experience in developing playful educational materials based on popular education methodologies is also required.
Skills
Knowledge of child protection legal framework in Nicaragua, Understanding of family reunification, foster care, adoption, and independent living transition processes, Proficiency in protection, child safeguarding, gender, inclusion, and non-discrimination approaches, Strong writing skills for children and adolescents, Ability to use simple, clear, and age-appropriate language, Skill in creating relatable characters for children, Use of hopeful narratives, Experience in developing playful and pedagogical tools, Capacity to implement playful methodologies, Experience in consultation and validation processes with children and families, Development of educational material for children and adolescents, Integral rights and emotional support focus
