Job Purpose
The National Communication Consultant will support the Government of the Philippines, in partnership with UNICEF and WHO, in organizing the Second Global Ministerial Conference (GMC) on Ending Violence Against Children. This conference aims to renew political commitment, showcase progress, and generate new financial and policy pledges to accelerate action to end violence against children, with a strong focus on prevention at scale. The consultant will contribute to highlighting emerging priorities such as tech-facilitated violence, humanitarian and climate-related risks, and the intersections between violence against children and violence against women. The role involves supporting the generation of new and more ambitious commitments from member states and promoting inclusive, cross-sectoral engagement across various sectors. The consultant will also help strengthen integrated and government-led child protection systems and promote sustainable, prevention-focused approaches.
Responsibilities
The National Communication Consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to support the Second Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children. This includes creating compelling content for various platforms, managing media relations, and ensuring consistent messaging across all communication channels. The consultant will work closely with government counterparts, UNICEF, and WHO to coordinate communication efforts and amplify the conference's objectives. Key responsibilities include drafting press releases, speeches, and other communication materials; developing social media campaigns; organizing press briefings and events; and monitoring media coverage. The consultant will also be tasked with documenting conference outcomes and ensuring that key messages reach target audiences, including policymakers, civil society, and the general public. Furthermore, the role involves supporting the development of advocacy materials and contributing to post-conference communication activities to sustain momentum and ensure the implementation of commitments made during the event. The consultant will also assist in managing the conference's communication budget and reporting on communication activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in communication, public relations, or a related field, with a proven track record in developing and implementing communication strategies for large-scale events or campaigns. Experience working with government agencies and international organizations is an asset.
