Job Purpose
The Communication Associate will support the Communication Specialist in Gaza and the Chief of Communication in East Jerusalem by providing information gathering, monitoring, technical, and administrative services for Communications, Advocacy, and Partnerships activities. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of the Communication Section, contributing to programme design and delivery through close collaboration with internal staff and external partners. The associate will monitor project milestones, provide feedback, and advise on improvements to ensure activities remain on track. The position aims to enhance UNICEF's engagement with its audience, fostering important conversations on children's wellbeing and rights, and ensuring effective communication strategies are implemented.
Responsibilities
The Communication Associate will support communication planning and execution by collecting information, conducting interviews, and drafting human-interest stories, social media posts, and other communication products. They will assist in organizing public support for events, preparing communication materials for visitors, and updating UNICEF's social media platforms in English and Arabic. Collaboration with mass media and relevant organizations will be key to achieving advocacy and communications objectives. In service delivery, the associate will liaise with contractors, oversee the production and editing of communication assets, and ensure quality control and adherence to UNICEF standards. They will monitor the dissemination of materials and maintain a documentation center for publications and media assets. For programme results management, the associate will assist with payments, budget follow-up, and data organization. Administrative support includes scrutinizing plans of operations, processing requests for assistance, and performing other required duties to ensure efficient programme implementation and administrative control.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in communication, public information, advocacy, or a related field is required. Experience in a UN or international organization is an asset.
