Job Purpose
The Fix My Food Youth Advocacy Consultant will coordinate, facilitate, and mentor young advocates in the 'Fix My Food' campaign, which aims to promote healthier food environments for children. This role involves developing toolkits with young people and providing overall guidance throughout the campaign's implementation. The consultant will support youth-led planning, design, execution, and evaluation of the campaign strategy, including setting SMART objectives, defining activities, and developing a digital advertising strategy. A key aspect is facilitating the creation of a comprehensive NCD prevention and food environments campaign toolkit in various formats, co-designed by the youth advocates, and recommending targeted digital boosting strategies to reach a significant youth audience. The consultant will also provide mentoring and coaching through workshops and online sessions to empower youth advocates in creating compelling, youth-led advocacy content.
Responsibilities
Support Fix My Food (FMF) advocates in youth-led planning, designing, implementation, and evaluation of the campaign strategy and workplan, including setting SMART objectives, activities, milestones, roles, responsibilities, slogan campaigns, and digital advertising strategies. Facilitate the development of a package of NCD prevention and food environments campaign toolkits in various formats, co-designed by FMF youth advocates (e.g., social media titles, blog posts, radio/video scripts, surveys, quizzes, press releases). Recommend targeted boosting strategies using multiple platforms to reach 1,500,000 youths. Provide mentoring and coaching sessions to FMF youth advocates through workshops and online sessions to co-create and deliver compelling, youth-leading storytelling and digital advocacy content. Amplify the FMF youth-led campaign through outreach and engagement with various stakeholders, volunteer networks, and campus clubs. Optimize key moments such as health calendar days and engage with policymakers. Strengthen linkages between FMF youth advocates and the Department of Basic Education Nutrition School ambassadors' initiatives to advocate for better school food environments and healthy lifestyles. Liaise with relevant UNICEF staff to maintain the FMF youth campaign website with updated materials and content. Develop a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation plan, including quantitative and qualitative research tools, to assess campaign reach and effectiveness. Conduct evaluations of key activities based on campaign objectives. Prepare a comprehensive written report detailing the process, achievements, reach, and lessons learned, and present the final evaluation and results to UNICEF. Compile policy briefs and case studies on the campaign for advocacy purposes and knowledge sharing.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including knowledge in social and behavior change, community engagement, nutrition/food systems or health promotion, and experience working with young people.
