Job Purpose
The Senior Driver provides high-level, secure, and professional driving services to the Head of Office (HoE). This role extends beyond basic transportation, requiring strong coordination with internal and external stakeholders, a deep understanding of diplomatic and UN protocols, proficiency in digital tracking systems, and a client-service-oriented approach. In addition to driving, the incumbent offers basic administrative and logistical support and contributes to the professional development of other drivers. The position demands a client-oriented mindset, a strong sense of responsibility, courtesy, discretion, and tact, along with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, ensuring safe and efficient mobility for the Head of Office.
Responsibilities
The Senior Driver is responsible for providing reliable and safe driving services to the Head of Office (HoE), ensuring punctuality and security. This includes effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders for travel arrangements and protocol engagement, adhering strictly to diplomatic and UN protocols. The role also encompasses vehicle maintenance, ensuring the vehicle is always ready for use, and responding effectively to any incidents or emergencies. Proficiency in using digital systems and devices for tracking and communication is essential. The Senior Driver will provide administrative and logistical support as needed, such as preparing travel documents or managing vehicle logs. Furthermore, the incumbent will offer guidance and mentorship to junior drivers, contributing to their professional development and ensuring consistent service standards. The role also involves utilizing downtime for learning and development, staying updated on relevant protocols and skills. The Senior Driver must maintain a high level of discretion, courtesy, and tact in all interactions, reflecting positively on UNICEF.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant work experience as a driver is required, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or the UN system. A consistently safe driving record is essential.
