Job Purpose
The Driver will be responsible for providing secure and dependable transportation services, adhering strictly to local traffic laws and UNICEF's operational protocols. This role demands a high level of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and adaptability. The Driver will also be expected to assist with administrative duties and engage in continuous learning during periods without driving assignments. A client-focused approach, courtesy, tact, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and national backgrounds are essential for success in this position. The Driver will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of office activities.
Responsibilities
Provide safe and reliable driving services for UNICEF staff and authorized personnel, ensuring punctuality and adherence to schedules. Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean and roadworthy condition, performing routine checks on oil, water, tires, and brakes, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Ensure the vehicle is equipped with all necessary safety equipment and first-aid supplies. Accurately log all vehicle usage, including mileage, fuel consumption, and destinations, in accordance with UNICEF guidelines. Operate digital tools and tracking systems as required for trip monitoring and reporting. Respond to emergency situations with professionalism and follow established emergency protocols. Assist with office support tasks, such as delivering and collecting documents, mail, and packages, during periods of low driving demand. Engage in self-directed learning to enhance knowledge of local routes, traffic regulations, and vehicle maintenance. Uphold the highest standards of discretion and integrity in all interactions and activities. Ensure compliance with all UNICEF security policies and procedures related to vehicle use and travel. Support office operations by assisting with other administrative tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional driving experience is required, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or the UN system. A proven safe driving record is mandatory.
