Job Purpose
The Communication Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's visibility, advocacy, and fundraising efforts for the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Bunia, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies, producing high-quality multimedia content, and ensuring effective dissemination of information. This position requires close collaboration with programme sections, field teams, and partners to align communication outputs with UNICEF standards and objectives. Responsibilities
The Communication Specialist will be responsible for planning, producing, and disseminating high-quality multimedia content to support UNICEF’s visibility, advocacy, and fundraising efforts in the Ebola response. This includes developing communication strategies, creating compelling narratives through various media formats (photo, video, text), and ensuring content aligns with UNICEF standards and messaging. The incumbent will work closely with programme sections, field teams, and partners to ensure effective and timely communication outputs. Key responsibilities include managing communication activities related to the Ebola response, coordinating with local authorities and international organizations, and contributing to advocacy campaigns. The role involves monitoring communication effectiveness, adapting strategies based on evolving contexts, and reporting on communication outcomes. Additionally, the specialist will support the Chief of Communication and the Ebola Response Coordinator in managing communication risks and opportunities, ensuring UNICEF's communication efforts are impactful and contribute to the overall response objectives in a challenging humanitarian setting.
Work Experience
Five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communication, print, broadcast, and/or new media. Demonstrated experience in professional multimedia production (photo, video, storytelling) to international standards.
