Job Purpose
The National Nutrition Programme Consultant will provide essential technical support to UNICEF China's Country Programme, focusing on critical nutrition priorities. This role is vital for addressing childhood overweight and obesity by consolidating programme tools, defining working models, and meticulously documenting UNICEF's nutrition programmes. The consultant will capture key experiences, achievements, and challenges encountered during implementation. The resulting documentation reports are crucial for scaling up programme implementation nationwide with high quality, ensuring sustainability, and enabling other partners beyond UNICEF to adopt and maintain these vital programmes. This consultancy aims to enhance the effectiveness and reach of nutrition interventions for children in China.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for consolidating existing programme tools and resources related to UNICEF's nutrition initiatives in China. This includes reviewing and organizing materials for Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), school nutrition programmes, and behaviour change communication campaigns. A key responsibility will be to define clear and effective working models for nutrition programme implementation, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and the China Country Programme. The consultant will document the experiences, achievements, and challenges of these programmes, creating comprehensive reports that highlight best practices and lessons learned. This documentation will serve as a critical resource for scaling up successful interventions nationwide and for knowledge sharing with external partners. The consultant will also contribute to the development of strategies for promoting healthy food environments, including the application of the Nutrient Profiling Model (NPM) in various settings. This role requires close collaboration with UNICEF country office staff and relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate and impactful documentation.
Work Experience
At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in nutrition, public health, or related areas. Experience in programme implementation, research, or policy-related work is considered an asset.
