Job Purpose
The Supply and Logistics Specialist reports to the Chief of Operations or Supply and Logistics Manager. This role is responsible for managing the supply chains of a small-sized country office and/or a small-scale emergency response operation, or specific elements of a larger supply operation. The specialist will oversee supply chain processes including planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport, and distribution. They will also monitor supplies, services, and construction works. A key aspect of the role is to support collaboration with programmes to define supply interventions that meet programmatic needs and deliver results for children. Additionally, the specialist will provide technical and advisory support to governments, national systems, and partners on supply chain management, contributing to UNICEF's mission for children.
Responsibilities
- Management of the Supply team.
- Ensuring effective supply chain service delivery and readiness for emergency response.
- Fostering collaboration with programme sections and implementing partners to align supply strategies with programmatic objectives and ensure timely delivery of results for children.
- Providing technical and advisory support to government counterparts and national systems on supply chain management best practices.
- Driving innovation in supply chain processes, products, and market engagement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Overseeing and managing all aspects of the supply chain, including planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport, and distribution.
- Monitoring the performance of supplies, services, and construction works to ensure quality and timely completion.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of supply chain strategies that support UNICEF's mandate and operational needs in the country office.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, at the national and international levels, in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, and administration is required.
