Job Purpose
The core objective of this consultancy is to co-create or lead data projects, support capacity building, and develop data and analytics products. This will primarily involve using cutting-edge data and data science models to support horizontal initiatives across UNICEF’s core programmes in health, education, WASH, and country climate initiatives. A key focus will be on the Automated SitRep tool, which aids the Office of Emergency Programmes with data for regional and country-based emergencies, and the creation of an Air Quality Model for Malaysia. The role requires extensive experience in senior stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and project management, coupled with strong data science expertise.
Responsibilities
Lead and co-create data projects utilizing advanced data science models to support UNICEF's core programmes, including health, education, WASH, and climate initiatives. Develop and enhance data and analytics products, with a specific focus on the Automated SitRep tool for emergency response data support and the creation of an Air Quality Model for Malaysia. Engage with senior stakeholders, facilitate discussions, and manage projects effectively. Apply strong data science skills, including expertise in data visualization techniques and best practices, particularly within the EAP region. Leverage knowledge of agile methodologies, user-centered design, and data management best practices. Utilize skills in building conversational agents with Large Language Models and Gen AI. Apply Computer Vision and Deep Learning models on satellite images. Contribute to the enhancement of UNICEF's mission by designing frontier data products within a dynamic, collaborative team environment. Provide support and coordination for project activities across a large organization and with international partner organizations.
Work Experience
At least 10 years of relevant work experience in Project Management, Data Engineering, Data Management, Data Analysis, Data Visualization, and Data Science/Machine Learning.
