The Mozambique Country Office implements a broad range of development and humanitarian interventions, establishing a Planning/Monitoring/Information Management (P/M/IM) Hub to ensure an integrated data system for the office.
Job Purpose
The Information Management Officer will support UNICEF in identifying and GIS mapping vulnerable children, including those affected by emergencies, by leveraging various data sources. This role ensures data centralization and mapping for situation monitoring to strengthen preparedness, targeting, and coordination of development and humanitarian interventions. The officer will also support Programme Sections, Field Offices, and UNICEF-led or co-led Clusters in data collection and management, assist Cluster Coordinators, and contribute to establishing an effective decentralized monitoring system by enabling performance data centralization. Additionally, the role supports the validation of sector Management Information Systems data and provides capacity building on Information Management for UNICEF Mozambique Sections, Field Offices, and partners.
Responsibilities
The Information Management Officer will be responsible for providing substantive support on Information Management (IM) for development and humanitarian programming across UNICEF Mozambique Sections, Field Offices, and Sector Clusters. This includes leveraging survey, routine, and administrative data to identify and GIS map the most vulnerable children, ensuring data centralization and mapping for situation monitoring. The role involves supporting Programme Sections, Field Offices, and Clusters in data collection and management, and working closely with other IM Officers to assist Cluster Coordinators. A key responsibility is contributing to establishing an effective decentralized monitoring system by enabling the centralization of performance data and supporting the validation of sector Management Information Systems data across various sectors like Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, Child Protection, and Social Protection. Furthermore, the officer will provide capacity building on Information Management for UNICEF Mozambique Sections, Field Offices, and partners, utilizing innovative approaches where possible to enhance data utilization and decision-making.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional work experience in Information Management, including data analysis, is required. Experience in Geographic Information System (GIS) is also a mandatory requirement.
