Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to support UNICEF Burundi in conducting a comprehensive programmatic review of gender equality integration within its Country Programme Document (CPD) for 2024-2027. This review will specifically assess how gender equality is embedded across key priority areas: Health and nutrition; WASH; Education and skills; Child protection; Social policy; and Programme effectiveness. The consultant will be responsible for identifying critical gender gaps and emerging opportunities within these sectors. The ultimate goal is to provide concrete, actionable recommendations and priority actions that will strengthen gender-responsive programming across all programmatic interventions, ensuring that UNICEF's efforts effectively address and promote gender equality for the benefit of children in Burundi.
Responsibilities
The consultant will undertake a thorough assessment of UNICEF Burundi's Country Programme Document (CPD) 2024-2027 to evaluate the extent to which gender equality principles are integrated across all programmatic areas. This involves analyzing existing strategies, interventions, and outcomes within the prioritized sectors: Health and nutrition, WASH, Education and skills, Child protection, Social policy, and Programme effectiveness. The consultant is expected to conduct research, gather relevant data, and analyze findings to identify key gender gaps and opportunities for enhancement. A significant part of the role will involve developing actionable recommendations and proposing priority actions to strengthen gender-responsive programming. This includes formulating strategies that promote gender equality and empower women and girls within the context of UNICEF's work in Burundi. The consultant will also be responsible for documenting the review process and its findings in a clear, concise, and narrative report, ensuring that the recommendations are practical and can be effectively implemented by UNICEF Burundi to achieve its gender equality objectives.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in gender equality, programme review, or a related field.
