Job Purpose
As a Strategic Business Partner, the Operations Officer (NO-2) is accountable for overseeing operations functions, facilitating change, and providing risk-informed, solution-focused analysis, advice, and services. This role contributes significantly to programme and management decisions, ensuring the delivery of results for children within specific operational contexts. The officer will champion strategic resource utilization for organizational goals and Value for Money (VfM), enhance risk management to improve organizational performance and internal controls, and drive operational centralization and optimization for maximum efficiency gains. Furthermore, the position involves strengthening internal and external partnerships and leveraging UNICEF’s oversight and understanding of financial management across all office areas, ensuring robust operational support for programmatic success.
Responsibilities
The Operations Officer (NO-2) is responsible for implementing people resources strategies to promote technical competence, foster career progression, and retain a "fit for purpose" and agile workforce. They will champion strategic resource allocation to achieve organizational goals and ensure Value for Money (VfM). A key responsibility is enhancing risk management processes to increase organizational performance and strengthen internal controls. The role also involves ensuring further operational centralization and optimization to achieve maximized efficiency gains. Strengthening internal and external-facing partnerships and leveraging UNICEF’s oversight and understanding of financial management across all office areas are crucial. This includes providing operational support, facilitating change, offering risk-informed analysis and advice, and contributing to programme and management decisions to deliver results for children in the Sokoto, Nigeria operational context. The officer will manage operational functions, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures, and support the development and implementation of operational plans.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience at the national and/or international level is required, specifically in one or more operations management areas such as budget, financial management and reporting, facilities management, administration, supply and logistics management, information and communication technology, or human resources.
