Job Purpose
The Event Coordinator Consultant will lead the end-to-end conceptualization, planning, and execution of significant events to commemorate UNICEF's 80th anniversary. This includes a high-profile event in the UN HQ ECOSOC chamber with member states and children, and an evening event at UNICEF House involving private sector partners, celebrities, children, musicians, artists, and Goodwill Ambassadors. Additionally, the consultant will conceptualize, plan, and execute an exhibition in the Danny Kaye Hall to mark this milestone. The role involves sharing event and exhibition formats with UNICEF Country Offices for potential adaptation and replication, ensuring the global reach and impact of the anniversary celebrations. The consultant will also manage logistical aspects, support engagement with service providers, and liaise with UN security and protocol.
Responsibilities
The Event Coordinator Consultant will be responsible for the comprehensive planning and execution of multiple key events and an exhibition for UNICEF's 80th anniversary. This includes conceptualizing event themes, developing detailed project plans, and managing all logistical aspects from inception to completion. The consultant will lead an event in the UN HQ ECOSOC chamber on December 11th, involving member states and children, and another event at UNICEF House on the same day, engaging private sector, celebrities, artists, and Goodwill Ambassadors. A significant part of the role involves conceptualizing and executing an exhibition in the Danny Kaye Hall. The consultant will also be tasked with documenting and sharing event and exhibition formats with UNICEF Country Offices to facilitate replication. Responsibilities extend to managing logistical arrangements, coordinating with service providers, and liaising with UN security and protocol. Troubleshooting technical issues for virtual event components and collaborating with building management and IT teams to ensure seamless virtual event delivery are also crucial. The consultant will develop and implement metrics for evaluating event success, conduct post-event analyses, gather feedback, and utilize insights for future strategy refinement. Budget tracking and expenditure monitoring in collaboration with the budget focal point and campaign coordinator are also key duties.
Work Experience
Minimum of 6 years of practical and relevant professional work experience in communication, marketing, and event production. Proven track record in producing brand activations, high-level events, virtual events, and communication campaigns. Experience working with children and knowledge of child safeguarding guidelines are essential.
