Job Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to provide high-quality technical expertise to UNICEF Malaysia and its partners in the design, development, and deployment of AI systems, models, and analytical solutions. This will be aligned with UNICEF’s data governance and responsible AI frameworks. The consultant will contribute to enhancing UNICEF's capabilities in leveraging artificial intelligence to address critical issues related to children's rights and well-being in Malaysia. This role is crucial for translating complex programme needs into effective AI-driven solutions, thereby strengthening UNICEF's operational efficiency and impact.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy AI systems, models, and analytical solutions in alignment with UNICEF's data governance and responsible AI frameworks. Translate business and programme needs into practical AI solutions. Develop and deploy machine learning models, working with real-world datasets and analytical systems. Utilize programming skills in Python, R, and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn. Build and deploy autonomous AI Agents, such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, to trigger backend automation. Explore and apply LLM tools, embeddings, or RAG architectures. Facilitate engagement, consultations, and human-centered design processes. Contribute to UNICEF's mandate, programming, and advocacy for children in Malaysia. Provide technical expertise and support to UNICEF Malaysia and its partners throughout the AI development lifecycle. Document AI solutions and provide training or knowledge transfer to relevant stakeholders.

Work Experience

Minimum of 7 years of experience in AI/ML development or data science. Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models, working with real-world datasets and analytical systems, and translating business/programme needs into AI solutions. Experience in NPL predictive analytics or large language models (LLMs) is an asset.
