Job Purpose
The Multi-media and Events Consultant will provide essential communication support to UNICEF programme teams, ensuring professional, timely, and adequate coverage of donor visibility, multi-media content collection, field visits, and events. Working closely with the Communication Specialist and Digital Officer, the consultant will produce high-quality, human-centred content, including iPhone videos and photography, for social media and other platforms. This role involves on-location shooting, editing, packaging, and potentially writing duties, including identifying beneficiaries and recording their stories. The consultant will also support filming crews, assist in the organization and execution of high-level field visits, and ensure the timely availability and strategic placement of UNICEF and donor visibility materials at event and filming locations. Furthermore, the consultant will facilitate the participation of children and young people in key events and engage them on child rights issues through their network.
Responsibilities
Produce human-centred iPhone videos and photography for beneficiaries, staff, celebrity supporters, and donors during events and field visits. This includes setting up sound, directing, framing, shooting, editing, and packaging videos to a high standard for social media. Conduct writing duties on the ground, identifying beneficiaries, recording details, profiles, and stories for photographic and video content. Participate in pre-mission recces. Support filming crews on selected videography missions by managing equipment rigging, sound recording, lighting, crowd control, consent signing, location scouting, and beneficiary identification for filming. Assist in the organization and execution of high-level field visits involving senior UNICEF leadership. Ensure timely and appropriate availability and strategic placement of UNICEF and donor visibility materials (banners, stickers, signs) at event and filming locations. Facilitate the participation of children and young people in key UNICEF events and initiatives, leveraging a network of young people to engage on child rights issues. Provide additional support to the Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships (CAP) section for other visit and event-related tasks as assigned by the Communication Specialist.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in development/humanitarian communication, print, broadcast media, interactive digital media, and events. Experience covering children's issues for a child rights organization like UNICEF is required.
