Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Risk and Compliance Manager, this role is crucial for strengthening risk assurance and compliance efforts within a large-scale country office. The specialist will provide essential support and monitoring for risk management, including the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of risk management practices across processes, systems, and the entity. This ensures that risk management objectives align with organizational rules, regulations, ethical behavior, internal controls, information security, sustainability, and quality assurance. The position involves analyzing and reporting on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management and internal controls, contributing to robust programme delivery through enhanced risk management, compliance, and accountability.
Responsibilities
The Risk and Compliance Specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive support in risk management, compliance, and fraud risk management. This includes developing, implementing, and continuously improving risk management practices at process, system, and entity levels, ensuring alignment with organizational rules, regulations, and ethical standards. The role involves monitoring the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and risk management strategies, providing analysis and reports to management. Key functions include offering oversight and advisory services to management, creating awareness, and building capacity within the country office on risk and compliance matters. Additionally, the specialist will support the regional office as required and contribute to strengthening accountability practices to ensure effective programme delivery. This position is vital for maintaining a strong risk assurance framework and promoting a culture of compliance throughout the country office operations.
Work Experience
At least five years of continuous professional work experience in Risk and Compliance or a directly relevant area, with several years in internal audit. Experience in financial management, particularly developing and implementing financial control systems, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), audits, and internal controls, preferably with international organizations, NGOs, or UN entities.
