Job Purpose

The Risk Specialist will support the effective coordination of assurance activities and conduct integrated performance and risk analyses. This role is crucial for informing management decision-making, strengthening accountability, and improving organizational effectiveness. The specialist will work closely with programmatic and operational teams, assurance focal points, and senior leadership to ensure robust risk management practices are embedded across the organization. The objective is to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks, thereby enhancing the delivery of UNICEF's mandate for the benefit of children worldwide. This position contributes to ensuring that UNICEF's operations are efficient, effective, and aligned with its strategic goals and values.

Responsibilities

1. Coordinate assurance activities across various UNICEF operations and programs, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and standards. 2. Conduct comprehensive performance and risk analyses, identifying key areas of concern and opportunities for improvement. 3. Develop and present clear, concise reports and management support materials, including dashboards and scorecards, to inform senior leadership and stakeholders. 4. Support capacity strengthening initiatives for staff and partners in risk management, internal control, and assurance practices. 5. Facilitate communication and collaboration among programmatic and operational teams, assurance focal points, and senior management to foster a risk-aware culture. 6. Monitor the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and provide guidance on corrective actions. 7. Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk management frameworks and methodologies within UNICEF. 8. Engage with stakeholders to gather information, share insights, and promote best practices in risk and performance management.

Work Experience

At least 5 years of relevant work experience in risk management, internal control, assurance, audit, performance management, or organizational oversight. Experience coordinating assessments, reviews, audits, or assurance activities is required. Experience developing dashboards, scorecards, and management reports is also necessary.
