Job Purpose
The consultant will be responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting a nutrition survey with provincial-level representativeness across 23 provinces in Chad. They will ensure the quality of the data collected through rigorous application of the SMART methodology and field supervision. The consultant will draft reports covering all stages of implementation, from inception to the final survey report. They will present the survey protocol to a technical steering committee including UNICEF, WFP, partner NGOs, the Nutrition Cluster, INSEED, DANA/MSPP, and other stakeholders. This role requires close collaboration with the Nutrition Specialist and the Nutrition Information Management Specialist under the supervision of the Section Chief to ensure the successful execution of the National Nutrition and Retrospective Mortality Survey.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the consultant is to lead the planning, organization, and execution of a national nutrition survey using the SMART methodology, ensuring provincial-level representativeness across 23 provinces in Chad. This involves developing a comprehensive survey plan and protocol, which will be presented to a technical steering committee comprising key stakeholders such as UNICEF, WFP, partner NGOs, the Nutrition Cluster, INSEED, DANA/MSPP. A critical aspect of the role is ensuring data quality through rigorous application of the SMART methodology and providing effective field supervision. The consultant will be responsible for drafting detailed reports that document all stages of the survey implementation, from the initial planning phase to the final comprehensive survey report. Furthermore, the consultant will collaborate closely with the Nutrition Specialist and the Nutrition Information Management Specialist, reporting to the Section Chief, to ensure alignment with UNICEF's objectives and standards. Experience with mobile data collection tools is also a key component of the responsibilities.
Work Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing national nutrition surveys using the SMART methodology. Proven experience in conducting coverage surveys for nutrition programs. At least two (2) years of experience using mobile phones and tablets for online data collection is an asset.
