Job Purpose
The Social Behavior Change Officer reports to the SBC Specialist and Team Lead, providing technical and operational support for UNICEF's polio eradication program at community and district levels. This role involves refining, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating a variety of SBC initiatives to foster an enabling environment for demand generation and behavioral/social change. Through communication, engagement, and empowerment of stakeholders, communities, children, civil society partners, and government counterparts, the officer will promote measurable behavioral and social change, contributing to sustainable results in improving children's rights, survival, and well-being. The position will also strengthen UNICEF’s integrated service delivery programs in Health, Nutrition, Water and Sanitation, Child Protection, and Education.
Responsibilities
Support the generation and utilization of research, data, and evidence to inform the design, implementation, measurement, and monitoring of SBC programs and outcomes in both development and emergency contexts, building the evidence base for SBC. Design, plan, and implement SBC activities grounded in social and behavioral evidence and strong engagement mechanisms. Implement SBC initiatives by mobilizing resources, coordinating across stakeholders, sectors, and teams, and building partnerships at community, UC, district, and provincial levels. Conduct continuous capacity building through Training Needs Assessments (TNA), resource design and development, and training execution for UNICEF staff and implementing partners. Ensure ComNet coordination and accountability at community, UC, district, and provincial levels. Contribute to strengthening UNICEF’s integrated service delivery programs, including Health, Nutrition, Water and Sanitation, Child Protection, and Education, as required.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development program planning, communication for development, social and behavior change, public advocacy, or a related area is required. Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.
