Job Purpose
The Nutrition Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for food systems and nutrition programmes/projects within the Country Programme, from development planning to results delivery. The incumbent implements a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of results. This role is crucial in supporting UNICEF's mission to ensure children's rights to nutrition and survival, contributing to the overall goals of the Country Programme.
Responsibilities
Support programme development and planning by conducting situation analyses, contributing to the development of programme goals, objectives, and strategies. Manage, monitor, and deliver results for nutrition programmes/projects, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic priorities and country-specific needs. Provide technical and operational support to programme implementation, including capacity building of partners and stakeholders. Foster networking and partnership building with government counterparts, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance programme effectiveness and sustainability. Drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the nutrition sector, sharing best practices and lessons learned. Ensure timely and accurate reporting on programme progress, achievements, and challenges, contributing to overall programme evaluation and accountability frameworks.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in a developing country is required in nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant and child health/nutrition care. Experience in health/nutrition programme/project development in the UN system or a similar international organization is considered an asset.
