Job Purpose
The Education Officer, NO-2, in Gaza, will provide crucial technical and operational support to scale up the Learning Centres (LCs) program across Gaza and the West Bank. This role is vital for expanding quality learning opportunities, focusing on foundational learning, learning continuity, and recovery, especially in the context of humanitarian and development needs. The position involves close coordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), implementing partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen education systems. A key aspect is ensuring disability inclusion and multi-sectoral inputs within the Gaza Scale-Up Strategy, guaranteeing equitable access to quality education for all children, including those with disabilities, and advancing governance, accountability, and community participation mechanisms.
Responsibilities
The Education Officer will be responsible for Programme Development and Planning, contributing to the design and strategic direction of education initiatives. They will manage, monitor, and ensure the delivery of results for education programmes, aligning with UNICEF's goals and the specific needs of Gaza. Providing technical and operational support is a core function, particularly in the scale-up of Learning Centres and ensuring the inclusion of children with disabilities. The role also involves significant Coordination and Partnership Building with the MoEHE, local partners, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and effective implementation. Furthermore, the incumbent will drive Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building, seeking new approaches to learning and sharing best practices to enhance the overall education response. This includes supporting digital and remote learning initiatives and strengthening education systems in partnership with relevant authorities.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in education programme planning, management, and research is required. Demonstrated experience in programme management, along with experience providing or overseeing specialized services for children with disabilities or those with additional needs, is essential for this role.
