Job Purpose
The Social & Behaviour Change Officer (RCCE) supports the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of evidence-based RCCE and SBC interventions for the Ebola response in Butembo, Beni, and Bunia. The role is crucial for community engagement, social listening, establishing community feedback mechanisms, coordinating with partners, and building capacity to promote protective behaviours. This position aims to strengthen community trust and ensure timely, locally adapted response actions in affected and at-risk areas, contributing to UNICEF's efforts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo amidst a complex and evolving health emergency.
Responsibilities
The Social & Behaviour Change Officer will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of evidence-based RCCE and SBC interventions for the Ebola response. Key duties include contributing to community engagement strategies, conducting social listening to understand community perceptions and concerns, and establishing effective community feedback mechanisms. The officer will also play a role in partner coordination to ensure a unified approach to the response and in capacity building initiatives for local stakeholders. This involves promoting protective behaviours, strengthening community trust, and facilitating timely, locally adapted response actions in affected and at-risk areas. The role requires working under the supervision of the RCCE/Social and Behaviour Change Specialist to achieve these objectives within the challenging context of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience is required in areas such as social development programme planning, communication for development, social and behaviour change, public advocacy, community engagement, risk communication, or another related area.
