Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to strengthen Uganda's overall health security framework by facilitating the rollout of UNICEF's comprehensive Public Health Emergency (PHE) prevention and response strategy. The specialist will play a pivotal role in this process, ensuring effective implementation and coordination. The role involves contributing to the country office's strategic objectives in public health emergencies, aligning with UNICEF's mandate to support the realization of children's rights, particularly those most disadvantaged. The consultancy is for a duration of 3 months, office-based in Kampala, Uganda, and requires a consultant with a strong background in public health emergencies and strategic implementation.
Responsibilities
The Public Health Emergency Specialist will be responsible for facilitating the rollout of the UNICEF country office's comprehensive PHE prevention and response strategy. This includes coordinating multi-stakeholder efforts and technical consultations to ensure effective strategy implementation. The specialist will provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health, leveraging their familiarity with Uganda's health sector systems and structures. A key responsibility will be managing large, complex grants from multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors, ensuring compliance and successful execution. The role requires the ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs within tight timelines, demonstrating excellent interpersonal, coordination, and communication skills. The specialist will contribute to strengthening Uganda's overall health security framework through strategic planning and execution of PHE initiatives, aligning with UNICEF's commitment to child protection and rights.
Work Experience
Minimum of 8 years of professional work experience in public health emergencies or a related public health field. Demonstrated experience in managing large complex grants from multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors. Demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health.
