Job Purpose
Under the general guidance of the supervisor, the Child Protection Officer is accountable for providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programmes and projects within the Country Programme. This includes supporting all stages from development planning to the effective delivery of results, ensuring that interventions are well-implemented and contribute to the overall objectives of child protection. The role involves supporting programme development and planning, programme management, monitoring and delivery of results, providing technical and operational support to programme implementation, networking and partnership building, and contributing to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building.
Responsibilities
The Child Protection Officer supports programme development and planning by contributing to the situation analysis and to the development/formulation of the child protection programme. They participate in the development of programme goals, objectives, and strategies. The role involves programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results, including managing resources, monitoring performance against objectives, and ensuring timely and effective delivery of results. Technical and operational support to programme implementation is crucial, providing guidance and support to government counterparts and implementing partners. Networking and partnership building involves establishing and strengthening collaboration with government, UN agencies, NGOs, and other partners. The officer also contributes to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building by identifying and sharing lessons learned, best practices, and innovative approaches, and by supporting capacity development initiatives for staff and partners.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required.
