Job Purpose
Under the overall guidance of the Program Specialist at the UNICEF Office to the African Union and ECA, the Child Protection Consultant will support the development and implementation of strategic partnerships and programs. This role involves coordinating Child Protection programs, with a special focus on the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Program 2.0 activities (SIARP 2.0). The consultant will provide support in program development, planning, monitoring, and advocacy throughout the programming processes. The objective is to facilitate concrete solutions and contribute to continental and international efforts to create a protective environment for children against all harms, ensuring their rights to survival, development, and wellbeing as established under international and continental frameworks.
Responsibilities
The Child Protection Consultant will be responsible for supporting program development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and child protection mandates. This includes contributing to the design of new initiatives and refining existing programs. The consultant will manage, monitor, and ensure the delivery of results for child protection programs, tracking progress against objectives and making necessary adjustments. Providing technical and operational support to program implementation is crucial, offering expertise and guidance to field teams and partners. Networking and partnership building with AU, ECA, and other relevant stakeholders will be key to fostering collaboration and leveraging resources. Furthermore, the consultant will drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the child protection sector, sharing best practices and promoting continuous learning.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in child protection is required.
