Job Purpose
UNICEF Nicaragua seeks qualified health professionals to join a pre-selected roster for technical support in the health sector. This roster will be used to hire consultants for development or humanitarian settings. Inclusion in the roster does not guarantee immediate employment but allows candidates to be contacted for future opportunities based on specific assignment needs and candidate suitability. The roster is valid for 36 months, and consultants will be contracted as needed, with detailed terms of reference shared when opportunities arise.
Responsibilities
The health component in UNICEF Nicaragua analyzes and addresses cognitive, social, and structural determinants affecting children's survival and potential in development and humanitarian contexts. It utilizes social and behavioral sciences to understand beliefs, values, norms, and contexts to design sustainable solutions. The health area integrates evidence generation with community participation and people-centered processes, focusing on immunization, nutrition, learning, sanitation, hygiene, mental health, and positive parenting. It also drives transformations towards more inclusive, equitable, and peaceful societies. The roster of pre-selected health experts is used by UNICEF staff to recruit consultants for short and long-term assignments. Candidates apply according to their specialties, undergoing profile evaluation, panel review, potential interviews, and reference checks.
Work Experience
At least 3 years of relevant experience in public health programs, implementation of health interventions, working with health systems, and capacity building in health. Experience in Nicaragua or Central America is highly valued.
