Job Purpose
The International Consultant will provide technical guidance to the UNICEF Cameroon Country Office to strengthen national Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Health Care Facilities (WiH) monitoring systems. This involves integrating and utilizing WASH FIT indicators, data collection tools, quality assurance, and evidence-based monitoring processes to enhance service delivery and accountability. The consultant will develop/adapt the Cameroon WASH FIT training package, train national institutions on WASH FIT, and conduct a training-of-trainers. Additionally, they will maintain a tracker for WASH FIT implementation, analyze results to identify weaknesses, and support the development of roadmaps to address these. The role aims to improve the monitoring of WiH systems through enhanced data utilization and capacity building.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing and adapting the Cameroon WASH FIT training package in collaboration with the UNICEF Cameroon country office and the Ministry of Public Health. They will strengthen the capacity of these institutions in WASH FIT methodologies and implement a training-of-trainers program. A key responsibility is to maintain the 8-step tracker on UNICEF’s SharePoint to monitor WASH FIT implementation in Cameroon. The consultant will analyze the tracker’s results to identify implementation weaknesses and support the Cameroon Country Office in developing plans and roadmaps to address these identified gaps. Furthermore, the consultant will provide guidance to the Cameroon Country Office for supporting government counterparts in strengthening national Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Health Care Facilities (WiH) monitoring systems, ensuring effective data collection, analysis, and utilization for improved service delivery and accountability.
Work Experience
10 years of experience in WASH or health fields, including at least two years specifically on WASH in healthcare facilities. Prior experience using the WASH FIT tool and significant experience facilitating trainings or workshops are required. Experience working for the United Nations is an added advantage.
